The season 2023-24 is up and running Thanks to all the parents and Nippers for the participation and showing the true meaning of sportsmanship and encouragement and simply ‘giving-it-a-go’. Thank you to the age managers, without whom everyone would be standing around wondering what to do.

A “marathon” 3.5 invitational swim was first run in 1995 by then Captain Erik Mather with support from President Martin McRobert In 1998 the 2,4,6 km invitational open water swim was established and in 2011 it was decided to dedicate all funds raised by the swim to the Melanoma Institute Australia. In 2012 the swim was renamed in the memory of Erik Mather who died from melanoma on 26 September 2011. He was 45 years old.

Donations will go to the Melanoma Institute Australia Erik Mather PhD Scholarship for melanoma research. All donations raised by the event will directly fund the Erik Mather PhD Scholarship program.

Any life lost to melanoma is one too many.
